Michael was born and raised in rural Wisconsin, earned a BFA in Design and Painting at UW Oshkosh before moving to San Francisco where Michael eventually earned a Master’s Degree in Painting at the San Francisco Art Institute. He now works and practices art in Milwaukee where he is just beginning to grow roots.

Michael uses portraiture to explore connection in contemporary life. Each abstracted landscape functions as a self portrait where his photography feeds as inspiration to recount and reflect upon various moments in his life, and how they continue to inform the present.
